Community Services Overview

Preparing responsible citizens that are able to make meaningful contributions to any community after they leave Sabu has been and continue to be priority of evertyhing that we do. Therefore community service is a critical part of the school curriculum. Our community service is an educational program based upon exchanges between the school and the community. Learning through service enables our students to learn the values of caring, respect for others, placing priority on the needs of those in need, and learning to live in peace. This program also enables critical thinking because our students are able to apply both classroom and community experiences to solve problems

Examples of Community Service projects:

  • Community Workday: The community workday is a unique service tradition in Sabu International School. Each year we organize two community workdays. Projects range from trash collection, cleaning offices, homes, religious houses, selling soup, painting murals, car wash, and cleaning the school campus. We end the day with drum circle celebrations.
  • Volunteering Opportunities: We encourage students to find independent ways to serve their community. We also try to identity local organizations for placement of our high school students.
